This feature is currently “In-Training” and is continuously being improved by S&P Global teams to enhance field selection accuracy, refine complex request processing, and extend support to new datasets and prompt types.

Transactions
In this release, we expanded our transaction valuations coverage to include estimated values for private company M&A deals and funding rounds. Additionally, we introduced new fields to include various levels of the industry classification tree in Transactions Screener and S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-in for better grouping by more granular sectors for transactions analysis, and added click-through to source calculation for M&A valuation metrics.
Enhanced Valuations Coverage for M&A and Funding Rounds
Users can now access enhanced private company transaction valuations with the addition of estimated values disclosed by third-party news sources. The new estimated deal values will be denoted by an ‘E,’ and users will have the option to include or exclude these values in Screener, S&P Capital IQ Pro Plug-In, and Transactions Statistics.
Estimated values are flagged when deal terms are not officially disclosed but are reported by credible third-party sources, such as media reports or information confirmed by sources close to the deal. Examples include M&A transactions where the purchase price is reported by news outlets but not confirmed by the companies involved, or funding rounds where the amount raised or valuation is cited without official disclosure. View more information on Estimated Valuations for Transactions.
Beyond these flagged estimated values, we are enhancing our methodology to calculate post-money valuations in cases where the data allows for reasonable calculations. For example, If an announcement indicates that an investor acquired a 7% stake in a company for $8.4M, we will calculate the post-money valuation as $120M for the round.
Coverage Stats:
~170 M&A deals with values flagged as estimated, collected over the last few years, while for funding rounds, we will collect only newly reported estimated values on an ongoing basis.
Expanded post-money valuation coverage by approximately 12,000 funding rounds historically.
